ALMA HAR’EL

Alma Har'el directs fearless work that blurs the line between documentary, fiction, and movement.

Her first documentary, Bombay Beach, won the top prize at the Tribeca Film Festival and been taught at Harvard and NYU as a genre-redefining work. Her most recent film, Honey Boy, written by and starring Shia LaBeouf, won the Jury Award for Vision and Craft at the Sundance Film Festival as well as the DGA Award for First-Time Feature Film, making her the first woman in DGA Awards history to be nominated for both commercial and narrative directing.

Alma's work in advertising helped position some of the biggest brands in the world.

Har'el directed Airbnb's first national and international campaigns. Including “From My Window," which championed the brand's offerings of local experiences and launched its brand story into its signature successes of “shared economy.”

She followed with the first campaign ever for UBER and Mark Zuckerberg's INTERNET.ORG. Her award-winning campaign for P&G; Winter Olympics, and her Super Bowl commercial for Coca-Cola, alongside her award-winning campaign for Chanel have positioned her as a sought-after commercial director.

In 2016, she founded the non-profit Free The Bid, which changed the hiring practices in the advertising world and grew globally beyond measurable success into FREE THE WORK. Most recently, Alma completed Lady in the Lake, a miniseries starring Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram. The series which Alma produced, wrote, and directed, is now streaming on Apple TV+.
