JC MOLINA

I worked with JC Molina as a Production Designer on a few award-winning commercials before I asked him to work on my film Honey Boy. JC provides a raw and emotional connection to the material through his work, and his creative process and leadership are shown in his shorthand dialogue with fellow craftsmen and artists. When I decided to direct all seven episodes of the Apple mini-series Lady in Lake, starring Natalie Portman, I knew I wanted him by my side. He has a burning desire to bring to life projects that realize the extraordinary in what can be mundane and an eye for detail in every aspect of his craft. As soon as JC decided to move into directing, his first commercial won him several awards and was broadcast during the Oscars' commercial break. Such is the work JC does. It is immediately undeniable in its robust beauty and connects to the viewer viscerally. It is the beginning of a long career in its exciting first bloom.

Mexican-American Artist, Production Designer, and Creative Director in Film, Television, Commercials, New Media, and Live Events, JC Molina, is now adding the new title of Director. 

A California-born, first-generation American who started his 10 year career in theater and lighting design, before cutting his teeth on independent films. 

In the past years, he worked on some of the most notable and anticipated projects. He helmed the design of Jonas Cuaron's pilot, Hombre, the feature film and Sundance 2023 bio-pic on Mexican wrestling and gay rights hero Cassandro with Oscar-winning director Roger Ross Williams, both of which star Gael Garcia Bernal. He recently wrapped production on the groundbreaking period series Lady In The Lake with writer-director Alma Har'el, which marks the first Television series from Oscar Winning Actress Natalie Portman. 

And just finished wrapping up the Blacklist script Holland, Michigan which stars Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman.

Notably, JC Molina has Production Designed videos and short Films with artists such as Post Malone, Eminem, Aloe Blacc, Jay Z, Childish Gambino, Zayne Malik, and yes, Beyonce, whose visual album Lemonade been one of JC's favorite projects.  His creative direction of Live Events includes the Super Bowl halftime show 2021 with The Weekend and when it comes to advertising, JC Molina has worked on many high-profile campaigns of the last decades, including campaigns for Apple, Nike, Prada, Coca Cola, P&G, FIFA, Sprint, Corona, and Toyota to name a few.

JC Molina has recently taken center stage as the director for the rebranding of Don Julio Tequila’s major international launch. 

He wanted to reshape the way tequila brands were seen by its global audience, putting the country it came from in the spotlight. His beloved Mexico.
